Sean Connauton has been working as a skating and hockey skills coach since 2011. Sean founded and has run Nuance Hockey since 2015. He has coached in the US, Finland, Sweden, and across Canada. Sean is passionate about working with students of all ages and abilities. In 2013 and 2014 he was the assistant coach of Team Brick Alberta and co-head coach of Team Jr. Brick Alberta. Sean is a full time Lead Hockey Instructor at Vimy Ridge Academy and has been with the program since 2023.

Born in Edmonton, Sean attended Donnan Academy through Junior High. He went on to play in the AJHL and won a Doyle Cup Championship with the Camrose Kodiaks. Sean then played NCAA Division 1 hockey at Brown University and was also on the varsity golf team. As a junior golfer, Sean played for two Alberta Junior Provincial Teams and qualified for a Canadian National Team. In the summer of 2009 Sean attended the Edmonton Oilers Rookie Camp.

 

Sean’s younger brother Kevin is also a Donnan alumni and has been a professional hockey player since 2010, Including 10 seasons in the NHL and was a member of Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in 2022. Kevin has engaged Sean as coach throughout his career and the brothers have been fortunate to be teammates, opponents, as well as co-coaches together.

In addition to hockey and golf, Sean enjoys many other sports including snowboarding, skiing, pickleball, and beach volleyball. He also loves spending time with his family, dog, girlfriend, coworkers, and friends.
